Though a good deal of an infantry regiment is made up of rank-and-file Guardsmen, those troopers with an affinity for cumbersome and extra complex weaponry are frequently gathered collectively within a committed heavy weapons company. Individual squads are then assigned to different companies as platoon-support units, where they bolster the combat line and supply close fire support.
